Oregon
My cousin offered to host me in Portland, Oregon. I had a much-needed reprieve from nonstop work. We checked out the city and visited several landscape locations. I even got to jump into a fountain of youth; Tamolich Lake. I definitely need to capture more of the Pacific Northwest and can’t wait to visit again.
2023 Bombay Beach
Just returned from a week in Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea, where I sought a break from work and focused on my photo catalog spanning over 10 years. Initially, I had no intention to take new photos, but the beautiful art pieces on the beach and the graffiti-covered trailers captivated me. They inspired a renewed sense of purpose and rekindled my passion for photography. Bombay Beach became a transformative space for reflection and creative revival, reminding me that beauty and artistry can emerge even amidst the broken and forgotten.

2016 Salton Sea
During my recent trip to the Salton Sea, I was captivated by its tranquil beauty and unique charm. The clear blue waters reflecting the vast desert sky created a serene atmosphere, providing a much-needed escape from the busy world.
As I explored the area, I was delighted by the diverse wildlife that called the Salton Sea home. Migratory birds gracefully soared through the air, while various species gathered along the shoreline, creating a vibrant and lively scene. It was a paradise for nature lovers, offering ample opportunities to observe and photograph the fascinating wildlife.
The Salton Sea’s intriguing history intrigued me. Initially an accidental creation, it had transformed into a popular resort destination in the past. Despite remnants of that era and the presence of abandoned structures, the changing water levels and peaceful surroundings added an air of mystery and curiosity to the experience. It was a place that sparked my imagination and made me wonder about the stories hidden beneath the surface of the sea.

2017 Salvation Mountain
Under the scorching sun, I set out to visit Salvation Mountain in the Salton Sea. The tales of this vibrant and eccentric art installation had captivated me, and I was eager to experience its wonders.
Driving through the dusty desert, I marveled at the barren beauty around me. The salty scent of the sea mixed with the dry air, creating a unique atmosphere. As I arrived at Salvation Mountain, I was greeted by a burst of colors—red, yellow, blue, and green adorned every surface. The mountain, made of clay and paint, stood proudly.
Salvation Mountain was the vision of Leonard Knight, an artist with a deep spirituality. He had spent decades crafting this monument of faith and love. As I traced my fingers over the textured walls, I could feel his dedication and passion in every brushstroke.
Climbing to the top, I was rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Salton Sea, its calm waters reflecting the vivid sky. I imagined how Leonard’s inspiration must have come from this very landscape. It was as if he had transformed his connection with nature and his faith into a tangible form of art.
Venturing into the tunnels and caves, I discovered religious symbols and scriptures, their soft glow illuminated by sunlight. Leonard’s intricate designs and messages conveyed a sense of hope and spiritual introspection. Each step revealed new wonders, captivating me with their beauty.
Leaving Salvation Mountain, I carried with me a profound appreciation for the creative spirit of Leonard Knight. His artistic legacy and his devotion to his beliefs were embodied in every vibrant brushstroke and heartfelt message on the mountain. It was a testament to the transformative power of art and the human spirit.
